My idea of being happy
Hey there. Are you happy doing whatever you’re doing? If the answer is a sincere yes, stop reading and get back to work. If not, What the fuck are you even doing? Why do you cry each day about how bad your work is and still stick with it?
Ask yourself these simple questions: Why am I even doing whatever doing right now? Is it making me happy? Is this the work I always dreamt would make me happy or is it just the money? Am I doing this for myself or because someone asked me to or because I saw someone doing it? If the answer is no for most of those questions, you’re in the wrong place my friend. It’s time to move on. The first step is to get out of the denial that you’re happy at this place, stop doing what you don’t enjoy and start searching.
“How do I search, where do I start?” you may ask. Well, it’s not easy. But the place to start is to find out what turns you on. No, not porn. It turns everyone on. Unless your aim in life is to be a pornstar, stop watching that shit and get serious. Discover. Introspect. There must be something that turns you on soon as you look at it. Something you feel you’re good at. Something which you can contribute to the world with. That’s what you should be looking for and doing.
The only way to live is by doing what you love. Life is an adventure, it’s a treasure hunt. If you’re born a human, it’s for a reason and dying out doing shit you don’t enjoy isn’t that reason. So what’s the reason? How the fuck should I know? But I can tell you this. START LOOKING! It’s nobody’s right to stay unhappy. If you want to live a life you wanna be happy in, start doing things you love doing.
Don’t wait for others’ validation for your existence. Own your life. I’ve been there. We all end up doing random shite just because some fuck somewhere told this is what we must do. I say who the hell is he to decide what I enjoy? How do you like it if I come and tell you to eat vanilla ice cream for the rest of your life cos I like it? It’s the exact same bull shit that we’re living with, just that we’re too scared to admit. Others’ opinion mean shit. They don’t know what you are. They don’t know what you’re truly capable of with your multiple talents. Only you know and only you have the right to decide what you must do in life.
It’s your right to be happy. But it’s also your job to decide how you can do it. But finding what you must do in life isn’t an easy task. At all. It’s painful. It hits you, hurts you, makes you cry. Cry it off. But don’t give up. Keep looking. We all have at least one passion that we live for. You gotta find it. It’ll take time, a lot of time. Years sometimes. But when you realize what is that you want to do, there’s nothing that stops you. Remember this- the only one stopping you from achieving whatever you want to achieve in life, is you. Nobody else. It’s you and your pussy excuses that you craftily blame it on someone/something else. Don’t give me excuses. It’s these excuses that make you stop doing even before you give yourself a chance to do it. I know you have a million problems in life. So do I. So does the dog searching for food on the streets. That is not a reason to stop trying to live a life you want to live.
Don’t worry about money. Money is just a medium. It’s not happiness. If money was happiness, there wouldn’t be so many sad people around at all. Work occupies a large part of your life. Nearly 8 hours of day on an average and that’s 33% of your time. If you’re doing something you don’t enjoy, you’re going through 8 hours of torture everyday (or maybe more), which will simply burn you out before you can even start thinking about enjoying whatever left is of your life. Instead, do what you enjoy, do what you really pleases you, and trust me, life will be much, much easier. When you do what you love, it removes the stress part out of it. It’ll be a fun exercise all through. And when you really enjoy what you do, you’ll work better, get better, and eventually start making good money out of it too. Take a leap of faith and start looking for your love. And it won’t be too far either. It’ll be one of those things that’re right in front of you that you would’ve ignored forever.
The choice is yours. You can either make your life a meaningless saas-bahu tv serial that lasts forever and ends without a trace, or exciting action packed man-vs-wild-esque show where you’re the star in the wilderness, enjoying what life throws at you.
Let me end this rant-speech with two things I always tell myself:
“Never live your life living someone else’s dream”
“Never stop learning. Cause the day you stop learning is the day you start dying”
Good luck.
